Objective
Ensure the Hazardous Waste Store in the healthcare facility is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and infection control, minimising risks associated with hazardous waste handling.
Cleaning Methods
Prior to entering the hazardous waste storage area, ensure you have donned the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Utilise a trolley to transport cleaning supplies and equipment to the designated site.
Eliminate all visible waste and debris using the suitable tool, and dispose of it in the designated rubbish bin.
Sanitise all surfaces using an approved disinfectant, with a particular focus on high-touch areas.
Sanitise and clean the interior and exterior of the waste container.
Ensure all cleaning equipment is properly cleaned, sanitised, and correctly stored after use.

FailSurfaces are visibly dirty or stained. Strong odours present. Waste containers are dirty with significant residues. Infection control guidelines are not followed.
