Objective
Ensure the waste room in the healthcare facility is cleaned and sanitised to the highest standards to prevent infection and maintain a safe environment.
Cleaning Methods
Ensure that you don appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), inclusive of gloves and a mask.
Implement a colour-coded cleaning system to avoid cross-contamination.
Remove waste and replace the bin liner, ensuring bins are sanitised before new liners are placed.
Utilise a mop and sanitising solution to clean the floor, ensuring all corners and edges are thoroughly reached.
Disinfect and cleanse walls and doors using a sanitising solution.
Inspect and clean ventilation grilles to ensure they are free from dust and debris.
Conduct a final inspection to ensure the room is free from odour and visible waste.

FailVisible waste or spills, surfaces are dirty, bins are not clean, strong odour present, ventilation grilles are clogged with dust.
