Objective
Ensure the highest level of cleanliness and hygiene in public toilets within healthcare facilities, adhering to Australian standards for infection control and public health.
Cleaning Methods
Ensure the cleaning trolley is prepared with all essential supplies, utilising colour-coded cloths and mops to avoid cross-contamination.
Start by emptying the rubbish bin and replacing the liner.
Ensure you wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with Australian health and safety guidelines.
Sanitise and clean all toilet surfaces using a disinfectant cleaner, ensuring all surfaces are thoroughly wiped dry.
Clean and sanitise the sink and tap, ensuring no water spots or residues remain.
Thoroughly wipe and sanitise all touchpoints to ensure comprehensive coverage.
Replenish consumables such as toilet paper, soap, and hand sanitiser.
Sweep the floor to remove debris, then mop using a disinfectant solution. Ensure the floor is left dry and streak-free.
Conduct a final inspection to ensure all areas are clean, sanitised, and free of odour.

PassSurfaces are generally clean with some residue. Mild odours present. Some consumables may be low. Floors are mostly clean but may have some wet spots.
FailSurfaces are visibly dirty or unsanitised. Strong odours present. Consumables are depleted. Floors are wet or dirty.
