Objective
To ensure the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is maintained at the highest level of cleanliness and hygiene, minimising the risk of infection and ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Cleaning Methods
Ensure the cleaning trolley is prepared and equipped with colour-coded cleaning cloths and a mop. All equipment must be clean and in optimal condition.
Commence by dusting all horizontal surfaces utilising a damp microfibre cloth to capture dust and inhibit dispersal.
Sanitise high-touch surfaces utilising a hospital-grade disinfectant, ensuring adherence to the contact time as per the manufacturer's instructions.

Commence mopping the floor from the most distant corner, progressing towards the exit. Use a damp mop and a suitable disinfectant.
Clean and sanitise the sink and tap, ensuring the removal of any visible soil and limescale.
Spot-clean walls and partitions as needed, focusing on visible marks and stains.
Ensure the toilet is cleaned and sanitised thoroughly, focusing on the bowl, seat, and surrounding area.
