Objective
To ensure the highest level of cleanliness and safety in hazardous materials areas within government buildings, adhering to Australian cleaning standards and workplace health and safety requirements.
Cleaning Methods
Prepare the cleaning trolley with all essential equipment and cleaning agents, ensuring each item is colour-coded according to its assigned cleaning area.
Ensure you don appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with safety guidelines.
Begin by dusting and vacuuming all surfaces to remove loose particles.
Sanitise all surfaces using an approved cleaning solution, with a particular focus on high-touch areas.
Dispose of hazardous waste in the designated rubbish bin, adhering to the appropriate waste management protocol.
Mop the floor using a neutralising cleaning agent, ensuring no residue is left behind.
Conduct a final inspection to ensure all areas meet the required cleanliness standard.
Wipe down walls, doors, and windows, ensuring all surfaces are free from streaks and residues.
Inspect and clean the air vent and filter, replacing them as necessary.

ExcellentAll surfaces are visibly clean and free from any hazardous residues. Air quality is optimal with no detectable odours. Waste is disposed of correctly, and all cleaning protocols are followed without deviation.
GoodSurfaces are mostly clean with minor residues in low-traffic areas. Air quality is acceptable with minimal odours. Waste disposal is mostly compliant, with minor deviations in cleaning protocols.
PassSurfaces show some residues, particularly in corners and less accessible areas. Air quality is below optimal with noticeable odours. Waste disposal and cleaning protocols show several deviations.
FailSurfaces are visibly dirty with significant hazardous residues. Air quality is poor with strong odours. Waste disposal is non-compliant, and cleaning protocols are not followed.
