Objective
Ensure the recycling area in the aged care facility is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, supporting infection control and environmental sustainability.
Cleaning Methods
Ensure that you don appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), inclusive of gloves and a mask.
Implement a colour-coded cleaning system to avoid cross-contamination.
Empty the recycling bin and transport its contents to the recycling collection point.
Sanitise the bin with an approved disinfectant, ensuring all surfaces are thoroughly covered.
Wipe down all surfaces using a damp cloth and an approved cleaning solution.
Inspect the area for any spills or debris and clean as necessary.
Conduct a final inspection to ensure all tasks are completed to the required standard.
Replace the bin liner and ensure the bins are in good condition.

FailBins and surfaces are dirty with visible residue or odours. Bins are not lined or are damaged. Pests are present.
