Objective
Ensure the Chemotherapy Suite is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, minimising infection risks and ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.
Scope of Work
- Dust all horizontal surfaces including benches, tables, and equipment.
- Sanitise all high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and taps.
- Vacuum all carpeted areas and mop hard floors using a colour-coded system to prevent cross-contamination.
- Empty and sanitise rubbish bins, ensuring proper waste segregation.
- Clean and sanitise patient chairs and treatment areas.
- Wipe down all accessible vertical surfaces to remove marks and stains.
- Ensure all cleaning activities comply with infection control protocols.
Method
- Prepare the cleaning trolley with appropriate colour-coded cloths and mops.
- Dust all surfaces using a microfibre cloth, starting from the highest point and working downwards.
- Sanitise high-touch areas with an approved disinfectant, allowing the required contact time.
- Vacuum carpets using a HEPA-filtered vacuum cleaner to reduce airborne particles.
- Mop hard floors with a neutral detergent, using separate mops for different areas to prevent cross-contamination.
- Empty rubbish bins, replace liners, and sanitise the bin surfaces.
- Inspect all areas for cleanliness and address any missed spots.

Fail | Significant dust or marks on more than 10% of surfaces. High-touch areas not sanitised. Floors are dirty with visible debris. Strong odours present. Infection control protocols not followed. |
Documentation
- Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
- Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
- Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
- Photos: Before and after photos as requested to document cleaning completion and quality
