Objective

Ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic environment in the recreation room of the aged care facility to promote the well-being and comfort of residents.

Scope of Work
  • Dust all surfaces, including tables, chairs, and shelves.
  • Vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture.
  • Mop hard floors with appropriate disinfectant.
  • Sanitize high-touch areas such as door handles, light switches, and remote controls.
  • Clean and sanitize any recreational equipment.
  • Empty and sanitize waste bins.
  • Wipe windows and glass surfaces to remove smudges and fingerprints.
Method
  1. Begin by dusting all surfaces using microfiber cloths to trap dust and allergens.
  2. Vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture using a HEPA-filter vacuum cleaner to ensure thorough removal of dust and debris.
  3. Mop hard floors with a neutral pH disinfectant, ensuring all areas are covered and excess moisture is removed.
  4. Use a disinfectant spray and cloth to sanitize high-touch areas, ensuring contact time as per disinfectant instructions.
  5. Clean recreational equipment with appropriate cleaning agents, ensuring no residue is left.
  6. Empty waste bins, replace liners, and sanitize the interior and exterior of bins.
  7. Use glass cleaner and a lint-free cloth to clean windows and glass surfaces, ensuring streak-free results.

FailVisible dirt, stains, or debris present. Unacceptable odors or untidy appearance. Cleaning tasks incomplete or inadequate. Requires immediate re-cleaning.
Documentation
  • Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
  • Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
  • Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
