Objective
Ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic environment in the recreation room of the aged care facility to promote the well-being and comfort of residents.
Scope of Work
- Dust all surfaces, including tables, chairs, and shelves.
- Vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture.
- Mop hard floors with appropriate disinfectant.
- Sanitize high-touch areas such as door handles, light switches, and remote controls.
- Clean and sanitize any recreational equipment.
- Empty and sanitize waste bins.
- Wipe windows and glass surfaces to remove smudges and fingerprints.
Method
- Begin by dusting all surfaces using microfiber cloths to trap dust and allergens.
- Vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture using a HEPA-filter vacuum cleaner to ensure thorough removal of dust and debris.
- Mop hard floors with a neutral pH disinfectant, ensuring all areas are covered and excess moisture is removed.
- Use a disinfectant spray and cloth to sanitize high-touch areas, ensuring contact time as per disinfectant instructions.
- Clean recreational equipment with appropriate cleaning agents, ensuring no residue is left.
- Empty waste bins, replace liners, and sanitize the interior and exterior of bins.
- Use glass cleaner and a lint-free cloth to clean windows and glass surfaces, ensuring streak-free results.

Fail | Visible dirt, stains, or debris present. Unacceptable odors or untidy appearance. Cleaning tasks incomplete or inadequate. Requires immediate re-cleaning. |
Documentation
- Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
- Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
- Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
- Photos: Before and after photos as requested to document cleaning completion and quality
