Objective
Ensure the Chemical Dosing Room is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, adhering to Australian workplace health and safety requirements.
Scope of Work
- Dust all surfaces, including shelves and equipment.
- Sanitise all work surfaces and high-touch areas.
- Mop floors with appropriate cleaning solution.
- Empty and sanitise rubbish bins.
- Inspect and clean all sinks and taps.
- Ensure all cleaning is conducted using colour-coded cleaning systems to prevent cross-contamination.
Method
- Begin by donning appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as per safety guidelines.
- Use a microfibre cloth to dust all surfaces, starting from the highest point and working downwards.
- Apply a suitable sanitising solution to all work surfaces and high-touch areas, allowing sufficient contact time as per manufacturer's instructions.
- Mop the floor using a trolley with a dual-bucket system to ensure separation of clean and dirty water.
- Empty rubbish bins, replace liners, and sanitise the bin interior and exterior.
- Clean sinks and taps using a non-abrasive cleaner, ensuring all residues are removed.
- Conduct a final inspection to ensure all tasks are completed to the required standard.

Quality Criteria
Performance Level | Criteria |

Good | Surfaces are mostly clean with minimal dust or residues. No strong odours. Floors have minor streaks. Rubbish bins are empty but may have minor marks. Sinks and taps are clean with minor water spots. |
Pass | Surfaces have some dust or residues. Mild odours may be present. Floors have visible streaks. Rubbish bins are emptied but not sanitised. Sinks and taps have visible water spots. |
Fail | Surfaces are visibly dirty with dust and residues. Strong odours present. Floors are dirty with streaks and marks. Rubbish bins are full or not emptied. Sinks and taps are dirty with significant water spots. |
Documentation
- Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
- Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
- Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
