Objective
Ensure the ultrasound room is cleaned to the highest standards to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for patients and staff, adhering to Australian healthcare cleaning standards.
Scope of Work
- Dust all horizontal and vertical surfaces, including equipment, ledges, and furniture.
- Sanitise all high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and ultrasound equipment controls.
- Vacuum and mop floors using a colour-coded system to prevent cross-contamination.
- Empty and sanitise rubbish bins, replacing liners as needed.
- Clean and sanitise sinks and taps.
- Ensure all cleaning activities comply with infection control guidelines.
Method
- Prepare the cleaning trolley with appropriate colour-coded cloths and mops.
- Dust surfaces using a microfibre cloth, starting from the highest point and working downwards.
- Sanitise high-touch areas with a hospital-grade disinfectant.
- Vacuum the floor using a HEPA-filter vacuum cleaner.
- Mop the floor with a damp mop, using a neutral detergent solution.
- Dispose of waste in accordance with healthcare waste management protocols.
- Conduct a final inspection to ensure all areas meet the quality criteria.

Quality Criteria

Fail | Visible dust or marks on more than 10% of surfaces. Noticeable odours. High-touch areas are not sanitised. Floors have visible debris. Waste bins are overflowing. |
Documentation
- Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
