Objective

To ensure the Pre-Op Room in the healthcare facility is cleaned and sanitised to the highest standards, ensuring infection control and patient safety in compliance with Australian guidelines.

Scope of Work
  • Dust all horizontal surfaces including benches, shelves, and equipment.
  • Sanitise all high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and bed rails.
  • Vacuum and mop floors using a colour-coded cleaning system to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Empty and sanitise rubbish bins, replacing liners as needed.
  • Clean and sanitise sinks and taps, ensuring no water spots or residue remain.
  • Ensure all cleaning is conducted in accordance with infection control protocols.
Method
  1. Prepare the cleaning trolley with appropriate colour-coded cloths and mops.
  2. Dust all surfaces using a microfibre cloth, starting from the highest point and working downwards.
  3. Sanitise high-touch areas with a hospital-grade disinfectant, allowing appropriate contact time.
  4. Vacuum the floor using a HEPA-filtered vacuum cleaner to minimise airborne particles.
  5. Mop the floor with a damp mop, using a neutral detergent, and allow to air dry.
  6. Dispose of waste in accordance with facility waste management protocols.

GoodSurfaces are mostly clean with minimal dust or marks. No strong odours. High-touch areas are sanitised. Floors are clean with slight residue in corners. Waste is disposed of, and bins are clean.
PassSurfaces have some dust or marks. Mild odours may be present. High-touch areas are mostly sanitised. Floors have visible residue. Waste is disposed of, but bins may have minor residue.
FailSurfaces are visibly dirty with dust and marks. Strong odours present. High-touch areas are not sanitised. Floors are dirty with significant residue. Waste is not disposed of correctly, and bins are dirty.
Documentation
  • Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
  • Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
  • Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
