Objective
To ensure the public corridors in the healthcare facility are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, minimising infection risks and ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Scope of Work
- Dusting of all horizontal surfaces including ledges, skirting boards, and window sills.
- Spot cleaning of walls and doors to remove marks and stains.
- Vacuuming of carpeted areas and mats.
- Mopping of hard floor surfaces with appropriate disinfectant.
- Sanitising of high-touch areas such as door handles, light switches, and handrails.
- Emptying and sanitising of rubbish bins.
- Cleaning and polishing of glass surfaces and mirrors.
Method
- Prepare the cleaning trolley with colour-coded cleaning cloths, mops, and appropriate cleaning agents.
- Dust all horizontal surfaces using a damp microfibre cloth to capture dust and allergens.
- Spot clean walls and doors using a neutral detergent and a damp cloth.
- Vacuum carpeted areas using a HEPA-filter vacuum cleaner to reduce airborne particles.
- Mop hard floors with a disinfectant solution, ensuring no excess water is left on the floor.
- Sanitise high-touch areas with a hospital-grade disinfectant.
- Empty rubbish bins, replace liners, and sanitise the bin interior and exterior.
- Clean glass surfaces with a glass cleaner and polish to a streak-free finish.

Quality Criteria
Performance Level | Criteria |

Good | Minor dust or marks on surfaces. Floors are clean with minimal debris. High-touch areas are mostly sanitised. No strong odours present. |
Pass | Noticeable dust or marks on some surfaces. Floors have some debris. High-touch areas show signs of sanitisation but may have some smudges. Mild odours may be present. |
Fail | Significant dust, marks, or stains on surfaces. Floors are visibly dirty with debris. High-touch areas are not sanitised. Strong or unpleasant odours present. |
Documentation
- Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
- Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
- Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
- Photos: Before and after photos as requested to document cleaning completion and quality
