Objective

To ensure the public corridors in the healthcare facility are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, minimising infection risks and ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Scope of Work
  • Dusting of all horizontal surfaces including ledges, skirting boards, and window sills.
  • Spot cleaning of walls and doors to remove marks and stains.
  • Vacuuming of carpeted areas and mats.
  • Mopping of hard floor surfaces with appropriate disinfectant.
  • Sanitising of high-touch areas such as door handles, light switches, and handrails.
  • Emptying and sanitising of rubbish bins.
  • Cleaning and polishing of glass surfaces and mirrors.
Method
  1. Prepare the cleaning trolley with colour-coded cleaning cloths, mops, and appropriate cleaning agents.
  2. Dust all horizontal surfaces using a damp microfibre cloth to capture dust and allergens.
  3. Spot clean walls and doors using a neutral detergent and a damp cloth.
  4. Vacuum carpeted areas using a HEPA-filter vacuum cleaner to reduce airborne particles.
  5. Mop hard floors with a disinfectant solution, ensuring no excess water is left on the floor.
  6. Sanitise high-touch areas with a hospital-grade disinfectant.
  7. Empty rubbish bins, replace liners, and sanitise the bin interior and exterior.
  8. Clean glass surfaces with a glass cleaner and polish to a streak-free finish.

Documentation
  • Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
  • Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
  • Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
