Objective

Ensure the highest level of cleanliness and infection control in the mortuary of a healthcare facility, adhering to Australian cleaning standards and workplace health and safety requirements.

Scope of Work
  • Dusting all horizontal surfaces, including ledges, sills, and equipment.
  • Sanitising all work surfaces, including autopsy tables and benches.
  • Mopping floors with a disinfectant solution.
  • Cleaning and sanitising sinks and taps.
  • Emptying and sanitising rubbish bins.
  • Cleaning and sanitising door handles and light switches.
  • Ensuring all cleaning equipment is cleaned and stored correctly after use.
Method
  1. Prepare the area by removing any waste and ensuring all surfaces are clear.
  2. Dust all horizontal surfaces using a damp microfibre cloth to minimise airborne particles.
  3. Sanitise all work surfaces with a hospital-grade disinfectant, ensuring contact time as per manufacturer's instructions.
  4. Mop floors using a two-bucket system with a disinfectant solution, ensuring no cross-contamination between clean and dirty water.
  5. Clean and sanitise sinks and taps, ensuring all visible stains and residues are removed.
  6. Empty rubbish bins, replace liners, and sanitise the bin interior and exterior.
  7. Wipe down door handles and light switches with disinfectant wipes.
  8. Inspect all areas to ensure compliance with cleaning standards and rectify any issues immediately.
