Objective
To ensure a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the Emergency Response area of a Government Building, adhering to Australian cleaning standards and workplace health and safety requirements.
Scope of Work
- Dusting of all horizontal surfaces including desks, shelves, and equipment.
- Sanitising of high-touch areas such as door handles, light switches, and telephones.
- Vacuuming of all carpeted areas and spot cleaning as necessary.
- Mopping of hard floors with appropriate cleaning solutions.
- Emptying and sanitising rubbish bins and replacing liners.
- Cleaning and sanitising of toilets and washbasins.
- Ensuring all cleaning supplies are replenished and stored correctly.
Method
- Prepare the cleaning trolley with all necessary supplies and equipment, ensuring colour-coded cleaning systems are used to prevent cross-contamination.
- Begin by dusting all horizontal surfaces using a microfibre cloth to capture dust effectively.
- Sanitise high-touch areas using a disinfectant spray and a clean cloth, ensuring thorough coverage.
- Vacuum all carpeted areas, paying special attention to corners and under furniture.
- Mop hard floors using a damp mop and a neutral pH floor cleaner, ensuring no residue is left behind.
- Empty rubbish bins, replace liners, and sanitise the bin surfaces.
- Clean toilets and washbasins using a toilet brush and appropriate cleaning agents, ensuring all surfaces are sanitised.
- Replenish all cleaning supplies and store equipment neatly in the designated area.

Fail | Heavy dust accumulation; high-touch areas not sanitised; floors are dirty with streaks; rubbish bins are overflowing and odorous; toilets are unsanitary with significant stains. |
