Objective
To ensure a clean, hygienic, and safe IT Lab environment in an education facility, adhering to Australian cleaning standards and workplace health and safety requirements.
Scope of Work
- Dusting of all surfaces including desks, chairs, and computer equipment.
- Sanitising of high-touch areas such as keyboards, mice, and door handles.
- Vacuuming of carpeted areas and spot cleaning as necessary.
- Mopping of hard floors with appropriate cleaning solution.
- Emptying and sanitising rubbish bins.
- Cleaning of windows and glass surfaces.
- Ensuring all cleaning activities are conducted using colour-coded cleaning systems to prevent cross-contamination.
Method
- Prepare cleaning trolley with all necessary equipment and supplies, ensuring colour-coded cloths and mops are used.
- Dust all surfaces using a microfibre cloth, starting from high surfaces and working downwards.
- Sanitise high-touch areas with an approved disinfectant, allowing appropriate contact time.
- Vacuum carpeted areas thoroughly, paying attention to corners and under desks.
- Mop hard floors using a damp mop and suitable cleaning solution, ensuring no excess water is left on the floor.
- Empty rubbish bins, replace liners, and sanitise bin surfaces.
- Clean windows and glass surfaces with a glass cleaner, ensuring streak-free finish.
- Conduct a final inspection to ensure all tasks are completed to standard.

Pass | Noticeable dust on surfaces; high-touch areas partially sanitised; floors have visible debris; bins are emptied but not sanitised; windows have visible streaks. |
Fail | Significant dust accumulation; high-touch areas not sanitised; floors are dirty with debris; bins are full; windows are dirty with streaks. |
Documentation
- Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
- Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
- Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
- Photos: Before and after photos as requested to document cleaning completion and quality
