Objective
Ensure the staff shower area in the aged care facility is hygienically clean and safe for use, adhering to relevant cleaning standards.
Scope of Work
- Clean and sanitize shower walls and floors.
- Wipe and disinfect shower fixtures and fittings.
- Clean and polish mirrors and glass surfaces.
- Dust and wipe down all horizontal surfaces.
- Empty and sanitize waste bins.
- Replenish soap and paper towel dispensers.
- Ensure drains are free of debris and clean.
Method
- Remove all personal items and debris from the shower area.
- Apply a suitable disinfectant cleaner to all surfaces, allowing appropriate dwell time.
- Scrub shower walls, floors, and fixtures with a non-abrasive brush.
- Rinse all surfaces thoroughly with clean water.
- Dry all surfaces with a clean microfiber cloth to prevent water spots.
- Polish mirrors and glass surfaces with a glass cleaner.
- Dust and wipe down all horizontal surfaces with a damp cloth.
- Empty waste bins and replace liners.
- Replenish soap and paper towel dispensers as needed.
- Inspect drains and remove any visible debris.

Quality Criteria
Excellent | All surfaces visibly clean, no dust, stains, or debris. Pleasant appearance with no odors. All cleaning tasks completed to highest standard. |
Good | Most surfaces clean with minimal dust or minor marks. Generally tidy appearance. All major cleaning tasks completed satisfactorily. |
Pass | Basic cleaning completed, surfaces generally clean but may have some minor dust or marks. Acceptable standard for routine operations. |
Fail | Visible dirt, stains, or debris present. Unacceptable odors or untidy appearance. Cleaning tasks incomplete or inadequate. Requires immediate re-cleaning. |
Documentation
- Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
- Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
- Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
- Photos: Before and after photos as requested to document cleaning completion and quality
