Objective

To ensure the sensory garden in the aged care facility is maintained in a clean and hygienic condition, providing a safe and pleasant environment for residents.

Scope of Work
  • Remove debris and litter from pathways and seating areas.
  • Dust and wipe down all outdoor furniture and fixtures.
  • Clean and sanitize handrails and touchpoints.
  • Sweep and mop hard surface pathways.
  • Vacuum any outdoor rugs or mats.
  • Wipe down signage and informational boards.
  • Clean and sanitize any water features or birdbaths.
Method
  1. Begin by collecting and disposing of all visible debris and litter.
  2. Use a damp cloth and appropriate cleaning solution to wipe down furniture and fixtures.
  3. Apply disinfectant to handrails and touchpoints, allowing proper dwell time before wiping clean.
  4. Sweep pathways thoroughly, followed by mopping with a suitable outdoor cleaning solution.
  5. Vacuum rugs or mats using an outdoor vacuum cleaner.
  6. Wipe down signage with a non-abrasive cleaner.
  7. Empty and clean water features, refilling with fresh water as necessary.

FailVisible dirt, stains, or debris present. Unacceptable odors or untidy appearance. Cleaning tasks incomplete or inadequate. Requires immediate re-cleaning.
Documentation
  • Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
  • Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
  • Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
  • Photos: Before and after photos as requested to document cleaning completion and quality
