Objective
To maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the laboratory space, ensuring compliance with Australian health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
Cleaning Methods
Prepare the cleaning trolley with all essential equipment and supplies, ensuring the use of colour-coded cloths and mops.
Dust all surfaces using a microfibre cloth, beginning from the highest point and working downwards.
Sanitise the work surface and high-touch areas using an approved disinfectant, ensuring to allow for the appropriate contact time.
Thoroughly vacuum the carpeted area, ensuring that edges and corners are properly attended to.

Mop the hard floor utilising a damp mop and an appropriate cleaning solution, ensuring to follow the grain of the floor.
Clean the sink and tap using a non-abrasive cleaner, ensuring all residues are thoroughly removed.
Conduct spot cleaning on walls and doors as required, utilising the appropriate cleaning agent.

GoodMinor dust or debris on less than 5% of surfaces. No visible stains. Floors are clean with minimal moisture. High-touch areas are sanitised with slight residue. Rubbish bins are empty with minor odour.
PassNoticeable dust or debris on less than 10% of surfaces. Some visible stains. Floors are mostly clean with some moisture. High-touch areas are sanitised with visible residue. Rubbish bins are not overflowing but have noticeable odour.
FailSignificant dust or debris on more than 10% of surfaces. Visible stains on multiple surfaces. Floors are dirty or wet. High-touch areas are not sanitised. Rubbish bins are overflowing or have strong odour.
